💍 From Dome to Shoreline: A Tribute to Local Artistry

Introducing Mey Jewelry – by Maryam Babakordi

Where culture, silver, and architectural emotion meet.

At Maralkunst, we believe in supporting artists who don’t just design jewelry—they tell stories. Stories born from the earth, shaped by history, and carried through hands that create with soul. That’s why we are proud to introduce the extraordinary work of Maryam Babakordi, the creator behind Mey Jewelry.

“Every piece I make is like a child to me—each one holds a part of where I’ve been, what I’ve felt, and what I want to share.”

– Maryam Babakordi

🛠 From Architecture to Artful Adornment

Maryam was born in Ordibehesht 1367 (April–May 1988) and originally studied architecture. But something in her always craved a softer space—a more emotional form of expression. Over time, she explored clothing design, wirework, and sculpture before finally finding her way into jewelry design.

She chose not only to design, but to learn the full craft of making jewelry from scratch: 925 sterling silver, natural stones, and symbolic forms rooted in architecture, land, and poetry.

🏛 Soltaniyeh Dome Earrings

“A dome that defies time. A gem that carries your story.”

Inspired by the grandeur of Iran’s Soltaniyeh Dome—one of the largest brick domes in the world—this piece reflects:

• The octagonal shape and arched geometry of the upper level

• The Arizona turquoise, mirroring the sky and tilework

• The yellow sapphire, like sunlight reflecting off the dome

This earring is a structure in miniature—history reimagined in silver and stone.

🕌 Taj Mahal Earrings

“Let marble remember love.”

This design is a poetic homage to India’s Taj Mahal. It blends:

• The iconic onion dome and lotus blossom silhouette

• Fine calligraphy inspired by Amanat Khan Shirazi, the Iranian master who carved sacred texts into the Taj Mahal’s marble

• Natural ruby, like the rising sun warming the white stone

These earrings don’t just sparkle—they whisper the story of love, architecture, and eternal devotion.

🏝 Hormuz Earrings

“Red soil. Shimmering sea. A piece of the island, captured in silver.”

These earrings are inspired by the surreal shores of Hormuz Island, where the red sand of the earth meets the turquoise waters of the Persian Gulf. The design curves like the coastline, shaped by the rhythm of the waves.

Materials:

• Ruby Zoisite: a fusion of green and red, symbolizing the union of life and land

• Natural pearl: calm, silence, and the secrets of the sea

• 925 silver: organic, flowing like the edge of the shore

This is not just jewelry. It’s a fragment of nature, a story from the island you can carry with you.

🌿 Why We Support Artists Like Maryam

At Maralkunst, we believe in slow fashion—not mass production. We stand for:

• Local and independent artistry

• Designs rooted in culture, architecture, and emotion

• Jewelry made to be worn with meaning

In a world overwhelmed by the fast and the fake, Maryam’s work is a return to the authentic. A celebration of heritage. A reminder that every piece we wear can carry a story worth telling.
