Golden Promise is made in 925 sterling silver with a gold-plated finish.
Gold plating gives the ring its warm gold appearance, but it is a surface layer over sterling silver. With regular wear, the gold tone can gradually soften or fade, especially in areas that receive more friction.
This is a normal characteristic of gold-plated jewelry and does not mean the ring is damaged. Over time, some of the natural silver color underneath may become visible.
To help preserve the gold finish for as long as possible:
- Avoid direct contact with perfume, lotion, hairspray and cosmetics
- Remove the ring before showering, swimming or using a sauna
- Avoid chlorine, salt water and household cleaning chemicals
- Remove during exercise, gardening and heavy manual work
- Do not polish with abrasive silver-cleaning products while the gold plating is intact
- Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth after wear
- Store separately in a dry jewelry pouch or box to reduce scratching and friction
Can the ring be re-plated?
Yes. If the gold finish becomes noticeably worn over time, gold re-plating may be possible to restore the warm gold appearance.
